![]() During the winter of 1785-86, they had a full year at the Reading Abbey Girl’s School under Mrs. Steventon Rectory in Hampshire a short time later suffering from typhus. As their mother said, “If Cassandra’s head had been going to be cut off, Jane would have hers cut off too.” The girls returned to their family at Jane was really too young to be sent away for schooling, but whatever Cassandra did, Jane did as well.
